Convenience is everything with kitchen appliances. The easier it is to create a meal or work with an ingredient, the more likely we are to do so. We don’t want to spend hours working at meals and juggling tasks when we could leave a machine to handle the hard work.
That is why countertop rotisserie toaster ovens are so appealing. These machines sound like a great all-in-one solution for a lot of families. But, are they the right option for you?
Is it worth buying a rotisserie oven?
It can be overwhelming looking at some of the rotisserie ovens online, especially some of the ones I will highlight below with the toasters and other functions. You may wonder if it is worth getting one at all. The worth all depends on the use you will get out of it. Will it sit on a countertop unloved, or will it end up helping you a wider range of meals over the week?
The right rotisserie toaster oven should have enough functions rolled into one compact machine to make it highly multifunctional and user-friendly. The ability to spit-roast a chicken in a convection or air-fryer oven is great for those that are short on time and want a better way to handle family meals. The additional settings just add to the worth.
Things to consider when choosing the best rotisserie toaster oven for your family.
1) What functions are available?
Functionality means more than providing a reliable convection or air-fryer oven to cook your meat or bake your cookies. Many brands will try and out-do each other by promising a wide range of cooking modes and pre-sets to help you out.
Rotisserie and toaster modes are essential – of course – but you can also find modes for baking, cooking pizza, dehydrating food, and more. Typically, there are 10 of these modes per oven. Some will have more and others less. Check the specification to see exactly what is on offer.
2) Does it have all the necessary tools for the job?
The ability to cook, bake, fry, or dehydrate the food item of your choice requires more than just the right mode and arrangement of heating elements. Accessories like trays and baskets go a long way. For rotisserie ovens, you need to have the spit provided, but some will go further with other baskets and tools. Also, look to see how many trays and other items are on offer.
This also means looking for any drip trays or crumb trays in the box. These sit nicely at the bottom of the oven while cooking meat or baking cookies to catch anything that falls. You can then remove it and wipe it clean for next time.
3) What is the capacity like?
Capacity also makes a big difference when choosing a machine. You need to be sure that everything will fit and you can handle portion sizes to match your family’s needs. Most brands will state the capacity in liters or quarts. But, this doesn’t always help if you are new to these ovens. Look out for guides that relate this to a size of chicken or a batch of cookies or diameter of pizza.
4) Is the machine easy to use?
Ease of use relates to a lot of different factors. Cleanliness is one, and a wipe-clean surface helps in addition to those drip trays mentioned above.
The consoles for setting up the cooking processes are another. It should be easy for anyone to find the mode they need, set the right temperature, and add a timer. Most machines provide timers up to 60mins to alert you when it’s time to get your food. Touchscreen models always look nice and are fun to use, while others will have simple dials.
Ideally, all the information about the cooking session will appear on a display. It helps to see the timer count down and to be sure you have the right temperature and setting before adding your food. Back-lit display helps too.
5) Does it offer value for money?
Value for money is a subjective term. There are options in this guide that are more expensive, where some may feel they are overpriced while others are happy with the cost. It mostly depends on how much you get for your money.
A machine with half the functions and accessories of a $100 machine shouldn’t be twice as expensive. At the same time, cheaper models can cut corners on quality and durability, so watch out there too.
What is the best inexpensive toaster oven?
The issue of cost and working to a budget raises the question of choosing “budget” items. Some countertop rotisserie toaster ovens are around $100 more than others, and this is reflected in my guide below. Those around the $100 mark can still provide a great range of cooking options in a user-friendly machine, as is the case with the Elite Gourmet Rotisserie Convection Oven. Any cheaper, and you may start to lose out on quality.
What is the best rotisserie oven to buy?
It wasn’t easy to choose my top pick in a rotisserie toaster oven. There are some brilliant machines out there that have some really cool features.
I want to give a special mention here to the double doors of the AAOBOSI Toaster Convection Oven Countertop and vertical design of the Nutrichef Upgraded MultiFunction Rotisserie Oven. However, my top pick is the MOOSOO 10-in-1 Air Fryer Toaster Oven. Others are more user-friendly or “cooler”, but this offers plenty of cooking functions in a spacious oven with few limitations.
9 of the best rotisserie toaster ovens around right now.
The following products are all examples of user-friendly countertop machines that families can use to increase their options in the kitchen. Many share similar features, such as the capacity, main functions, and basic design ideas.
Many also have a unique selling point in the cooking functions, the build, or other details to stand out. The products range from around $90 to $200, making them affordable with some room to move in your budget. Hopefully, you can find what you need among the best Rotisserie Ovens reviews.
1) MOOSOO 10-in-1 Air Fryer Toaster Oven
A big selling point with this fryer is the multifunctionality. There are many ways to cook a range of different food items, including the rotisserie option. The console has easy-to-understand symbols for the 10 functions, with a simple dial to switch the setting and the temperatures as needed.
The size of the oven is also important. 25L means a lot of toast at once – 6 simultaneous slices so that you, your partner, and a couple of kids can all get their toast at the same time. The rotisserie spit is part of the package, as are the different racks, pans, trays, and baskets needed for the other options.
One complaint about the timer only going up as high as 60 mins. This is fine for most recipes and bakes, but those needing a slower, longer process had to be carefully timing them. Still, this is the norm for this sort of device. Others have found there is a bit of a learning curve with the temperature gauge.
2) CROWNFUL 19 Quart Air Fryer Toaster Oven
There is a lot to like about this attractive black countertop model too, and I want to highlight this one as an option for those focused on rotisserie cooking.
There are 10 cooking presets in total, but the most interesting is the air-fryer oven for larger birds with the spit and other tools. Another big selling point for the brand is the dehydrator function. You can also benefit from the simple controls, with the back-lit console, one dial, and a few buttons.
A possible issue here lies with the capacity. This is something to watch out for with any machine. This one is sold as extra-large, and there is enough room at 19 quarts, but it isn’t the biggest option in this guide. Beware of “extra-large” and “family-sized” tags and always check the actual dimensions.
3) WowChef Air Fryer Rotisserie Oven Combo
I like the nice big window on the oven to see the rotisserie element in action. An added benefit is the clean console on the top showing the temperature, time, and different functions. The touchscreen design with the little icons should make it really easy to use.
Again, this is a 10-in-1 machine with an air-fryer. I also like the way that this one focuses on rotisserie cooking with the spit, cage, and skewers and the shape of the 19- quart oven. There are also accessories like the drip tray and the dehydrator baskets.
Unfortunately, the focus on rotisserie cooking may mean you don’t get the same multifunctional cooking process as other machines. This one perhaps is not as good for baking, toasting or other general cooking needs as other toaster ovens in this guide.
4) Ultrean Air Fryer Toaster Oven Combo
This machine is one of the biggest yet in terms of cooking space at 30L. This should make it perfect for handling the needs of larger families by allowing for better cooking of larger birds, bigger batches of baked goods, large pizzas, and more. However, this is still a pretty small machine as this oven capacity takes up most of the space. Instead,
It is built like a microwave oven for the countertop, which adds some familiarity and appeal for those new to this sort of system. The display and dials are on the side and easy to use. You also get lots of trays, including a crumb tray that is a nice touch for easy cleaning.
The downside is that there are only 8 functions this time. While this is still more than enough for a lot of families, it is just not as many as previous products. You do get the benefits of the toaster and dehydrator, however. Also, this one is a little more expensive compared to the others so far.
5) AAOBOSI Toaster Convection Oven Countertop
The most interesting feature here for me is the use of the glass double doors on the oven. It might look inconsequential in terms of helping with the cooking process. However, it is a good way to stop the machine from getting in the way and makes it a more countertop-friendly option.
If you have ever cursed at the microwave door for catching your arm or getting in the way, you know what I mean. Inside, you get another great convection oven with a rotisserie option that promises a whole chicken in just 50 minutes.
Again, we go up in size but also up in price. This one may be worth the extra cost for the quality and design offered. However, it isn’t the most multifunctional. There are just the five modes compared to the standard 10-in-1 options, or even the 16-in-1 below. This could be more than enough to start with but you could miss out on other opportunities.
6) Elite Gourmet Rotisserie Convection Toaster Oven
As I’ve been highlighting the growing price tags on the last couple of items, I thought I’d move onto this option from Elite Gourmet. This one is notably cheaper at under $100. You still get a lot of functions in this 8-in-1 machine, including the rotisserie and the toaster, which suggest good value.
There are still all the necessary accessories, including the grill rack, rotisserie spit, and crumb tray. The capacity is also bigger than it looks, with enough room for 6 slices of toast and a 12’’ pizza. Therefore, most families should be impressed with this option.
For me, the biggest drawback is that there is no console or display for information. Most other machines have some form of display, ideally back-lit, that shows the temperature, time, and/or cooking mode. This provides peace of mind that newcomers are using the machine correctly. That isn’t available here.
7) Zebbyee 16-in-1 Toaster Oven Airfryer Combo
What immediately stands out here is the idea that this is a 16-in-1 oven. This is significant when compared to the more standard 10-in-1 functionality of these machines. Additional features available revolve around microwaving, defrosting, and thawing.
None are that exciting compared to a dehydrator, but you can still deal with some important tasks. It is also an attractive 22qt machine that draws users in with a blue back-lit display. Little details like this, and the button for the lamp inside, can make a difference.
The issue is that there isn’t the biggest range of accessories. You get some basic trays, although users have noted that the drip tray doesn’t fit under the bottom element. This then makes things a little more annoying when it comes to cleaning out the oven. There could have been more for the price and the range of functions.
8)KPX 10-in-1 Convection Oven Combo
There is a lot here that ticks all the right boxes for families in need of an effective convection oven. The capacity is great, with just a little more than average but nothing over the top.
There are the usual 10 functions built into the system, including the rotisserie element, dehydrator, and a nice pizza oven mode. You also get some of the expected accessories, like the rotisserie spit and basket, a baking pan, and a removable drip tray for easier cleaning.
What I don’t like is that I can’t get as excited about this machine as I can with other options in this guide. Most have some fun or unique selling point to draw us in. This is just a standard oven that gets the job done. It also doesn’t help that it takes a little while to preheat
9) Nutrichef Upgraded Multi-Function Rotisserie Oven – Vertical Countertop Oven
Let’s end with something a bit different. This literally turns the oven design on its head with a vertical countertop design. This means that in addition to offering the rotisserie spit there is a kebab rack. The focus in the cooking functions is on these two factors. This is understandable as kebab cooking is so rare.
However, you can also bake in this oven to a point. The promise of stain-resistant material seems to be upheld as users have few problems cleaning this out. Also, this one is another affordable choice that looks more expensive than it is.
This is another option where the focus on the rotisserie options rather than a more multifunctional purpose. It comes with one tray for all purposes and a couple of shelves, rather than all the tools and baskets of other devices. This might be a bit of a cheat and a way to keep costs down. It is up to you if you see value here or not.
10) Black Decker WCR 076 Rotisserie Toaster Oven
The Black & Decker WCR 076 Rotisserie Toaster Oven is a countertop appliance that features a rotisserie and convection oven. It has an easy-to-use digital interface, which allows you to preheat the oven and choose your cooking time.
This product has five automatic cooking functions: broil, bake, toast, pizza, and grill. The cool touch design keeps the exterior of the oven cool to the touch during use. It has an extra-large capacity for up to 6 pieces of chicken, 12 slices of bread, or 2 pizzas. It has an adjustable temperature that ranges from 150 degrees Fahrenheit to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
This appliance also comes with a removable crumb tray for easy cleaning. This product is ideal for quick snacks or when preparing multiple dishes at once in a small kitchen space.
11) cuisinart tob 200n rotisserie
The Cuisinart TOB-200N is a commercial grade rotisserie that comes with many features to help make cooking easier. It has a sturdy, stainless steel construction that is designed for heavy duty use.
It can hold up to 24 pounds of food and provides excellent support for larger pieces of meat. The Tob-200N also includes an adjustable temperature probe and timer, which allows you to cook your meat at the perfect temperature.
This model comes with two broil pans and four wire racks, so you can cook more than one type of food at once. This versatile appliance is great for those who are looking for a way to make their own healthy meals at home but don’t have time to do all the work themselves.
Choosing the right rotisserie toaster oven for your families.
As you can see, there are lots of options out there and you don’t have to spend a fortune to get a user-friendly system with lots of options. Make sure to read the specifications of any appliance carefully before you buy. The capacity can make a big difference to your options when cooking, as will the settings on offer.
Some machines are more restrictive than others. Some are better designed for countertop use with fewer functions and others are beasts that can deal with mountains of food. Figure out your priorities as a family and you will find the best fit.
