Choosing the right crib for your newborn child is a difficult task. There are so many brands out there that say that they have the most practical option for new mothers, with great comfort features, accessibility, and other conveniences to make life easier.

It is tempting to go for a more high-end, luxury baby crib rather than a run-of-the-mill item you can get from the average store. There is a sense that this will provide more quality and greater value over time.

So, in this guide, I am going to focus on a selection of “luxury” cribs that may offer you more than your standard product. There are some interesting designs here and a range of solutions – from the more minimalist but well-crafted items of furniture to the modern cribs with extra features thrown in.

What does luxury mean to you?

There are different ways of determining what luxury actually means when buying a luxury crib. Typically, this means a high-end item where you get that greater sense of quality and value. It should offer something that other cribs at the budget end of the scale cant. Therefore, it helps to consider the following.

1) What is the crib made from?

A lot of the best fancy baby cribs out there are wooden with high-quality pine bars and slats on the crib and careful craftsmanship on the joints and other parts of the design. Wooden luxury cribs are the best option if you want to create a nicer look in a nursery.

Some parents will prefer the lighter, natural tones of pine or white paintwork. Others will favor the darker tones of oak or espresso stains because they have a period look. Also, don’t forget that a good, natural wooden crib will fit nicely into any Montessori-style nursery.

Plastic isn’t so appealing in luxury nursery furniture. It looks a lot cheaper and there is the sense that it won’t last as long. You might end up with some nice additional features with a more high-end plastic crib, but is that enough to create the vibe you are after?

2) Do you get any additional items that improve the experience of you or your child?

This is another way that value comes into play. Luxury baby cribs aren’t always just about the frame. They need to offer more to warrant the higher price tag. This could be as simple as including some soft furnishing or even the mattress for the crib.

Material edging, lacy canopies, mesh screens, and other items can help to soften the look and add that more luxurious feel.

Or perhaps there are additional features that will help when it comes to putting a child down for a nap, entertaining them, or even changing them. Cribs with changing tables are a great practical solution. I have one luxury option here, but you can learn about more affordable options in my other guide on the best crib and changing table combos.

3) Is this an investment piece?

This is another important question when determining the worth of these big-ticket items. Are you looking for a short-term solution for your baby that just has some extra wow-factor? There are lots of pieces of luxury nursery furniture out there that are purely for the younger years.

But, that doesn’t mean that they aren’t luxury items with great designs or adaptations to them. Others go all out with clever features to make the parent’s life easier in that short space of time.

Or, are you after something that you can convert over time? Some of these luxury cribs are so well constructed and designed that you can reconfigure them into different shapes as your child gets older.

This could mean that a crib that costs $1000 or more could end up doing the job of multiple items of furniture over the years.

9 Best Luxury Baby Cribs

1) Vory pine multifunctional  Luxury baby crib

This Vory crib is one that stood out instantly for me because it is so extreme. This is a wonderful piece of carpentry and engineering that is a substantial piece of furniture. To start with, you have the crib section with the fold-don bars at the front and a cute painted scene on the other boards.

Beneath this, there is a little storage area with a hinged door where you can keep clothing, blankets, or pretty much anything else that won’t fall through the gaps.

On the side, there is a fold-down changing table, which increases the multi-functionality of this crib even further. You also get the choice of whether you want to use caster wheels to make it more mobile.

There is so much going on in this piece of furniture that it could actually be worth the high price tag.

2) Vory Infant baby rocking crib.

Sticking with Vory for a moment, this is another option that is an interesting multi-functional crib that also brings a sense of luxury through the minimalist Scandi look and craftsmanship.

There are two configurations here for parents to take advantage of. You can have the ordinary four-sided crib on the rocker. This is clean and attractive with a stable base and those optional casters.

The other option is to take one side down, use the crib as a beside-the-bed sleep instead, and use the unwanted side as shelving under the crib.

The high-quality pine allows for a really nice natural product that you can then adapt with your own bedding for a more personalized look. The white minimalist approach is a great blank canvas for that.

3) QWERTOUY Baby Bassinet Cradle Swing Rocking Music Remoter Control Luxury Sleeping Basket

The stand out feature in this luxury crib is the remote control. You can use this from afar to set up the rockier on this crib. There are three different speeds to help soothe your child.

There is also a timer with options of 15, 30, and 45 minutes. From there you can also make use of the USB flash drive with 12 songs on it.

The bassinet on the rocker is cute with a nice mesh canopy and fringing around the side. This comes in either blue or pink. There are also little toys hanging from the top rail for added visual stimulation for the child.

The reliance on electronics and batteries won’t appeal to everyone, but this could prove helpful for a lot of busy parents.

4) Dream On Me Sophia Posh Circular Crib

Dream on Me is a popular brand with lots of cribs and other baby care items across various price ranges. At close to $650, this has to be their most high-end, luxury option.

The design and style, while unisex, is quite old fashioned. It looks like it would fit into the nursery of a period home rather than a contemporary apartment.

There is a round crib with tall wooden bars in an espresso stain. There is then a white lacy canopy on the top and ruffles on the bottom to soften it all up.

The idea is that this circle design provides better access and visibility for sleeping babies. You don’t get any of the same interactive elements or toys here, but this could be a good piece to use if you plan on having a few children, due to that timeless look.

5) Delta SlumberTime Paloma 4-in-1 Convertible Crib

Maybe you feel that luxury means high-quality craftsmanship and long-term appeal, rather than any sort of extra features. If so, this Delta crib could be a great choice.

The design of the wooden crib is strong with a more old-fashioned feel. Although it is made from quality pine, there is a darker tone to the wood that is reminiscent of oak.

This immediately conjures up images of period cottages and a more homely feel than most modern cribs.

The added benefit of choosing this crib is that it comes with a recycled fiber core mattress. That mattress has a waterproof cover to minimize damage from any accidents.

This provides greater comfort for kids as you adapt this crib from a crib to a toddler bed, daybed, and full-sized bed. The environmental credentials here will also appeal to parents looking for that more natural and sustainable choice.

6) Baby Cradle Rocking Crib

Next, we have another rocking crib with a more modern approach to the design and materials. While many of these luxury cribs are big pieces of static furniture, this one is portable with the wheels on the bottom of the frame. Therefore, all you need to do is “glide” it around between rooms.

This is another lux option that is full of features that parents and babies will appreciate. The large bassinet has a full mesh canopy over the top that offers protection and breathability.

Beneath that, you get a couple of soft toys to keep babies entertained. Parents will also appreciate the storage basket beneath and the fact that it comes in different colors.

This does take portable bassinet cribs to a new level in terms of comfort and quality.

7) Vory Rattan Baby Crib

If you want to take a more traditional route with your crib and go for an old-fashioned rocking cradle, you could try this Vory model. This product is beautiful and will make other parents and family members very jealous when they see it.

The wickerwork on the base and sides is impressive and a great material for a lighter, breathable design. There is also a rich color to the materials and lovely little details in the fabric ties.

Finally, there is the curved rocker on the base that is gentle enough to help little ones get off to sleep. This design is a little out there compared to contemporary cribs, but it could be worth the price if you get a lot of use out of it.

8) Baby Cradle Bedside Co-Sleeping Crib

How about a luxury option that is also beside the bed sleeper? You might not think that you would find much on the higher end of the scale with this sort of product. But, there are some nice products with soft cribs, additional storage, and a sturdy frame too. The choice of a bright pink or dark blue material is a nice choice here.

When it comes to the practical features on this top-end beside the bed crib, you get a nice zippered wall on one side that gives you a choice on how to use the device.

That wall also has a mesh panel for enhanced breathability. Then there is the rocker on the frame and the transport wheel. This gives the crib an additional purpose as a place for naps anywhere else in the home.

9) HEEGNPD 0-12 Years Old Cradle Baby Crib

Let’s end this with a complete wild card option. This one caught my eye purely because I wanted to see what you could get via Amazon if money were no object. Obviously, I know that most parents don’t have $4000 to blow on a crib.

But, if you wanted to, you could with this oval crib on wheels. The idea here is that you adapt the shape of this wooden crib over the years, from a round newborn crib to a larger bed, to beside cribs, and more. There is even the suggestion that you can adapt it to a study table when they are teenagers.

It is an interesting idea as an investment piece, but it doesn’t have any of the other features of the more multifunctional cribs above. All it has are the wooden slats, base, and caster wheels.

Choosing the best luxury crib for your nursery

There is a lot to think about when choosing the right crib for your needs. Obviously, you have to work within an appropriate budget. Some of these will be too expensive, but they do show what is out there on the higher end of the scale.

You then need to decide if you want something purely for younger children with all those fun bells and whistles. Or, would you prefer something that could provide greater value over time via conversions and quality craftsmanship?

Above all, this has to be something that you can see yourself, and your child, using with ease. Take your time to compare your options and see exactly what different cribs do, or don’t do.

You can then see which fancy baby cribs have the best specification and value for money based on your priorities.
